Acupuncture is an ancient form of Chinese Medicine that involves the insertion of stainless steel acupuncture needles into the skin at specific points on the body to achieve a desired therapeutic effect.
At Professional Care Rehab Centre, Dr. Ali, D.C. uses an evidence-based biomedical approach with a foundation in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) in his acupuncture assessments and treatments. By using the fundamentals of TCM within a contemporary anatomical context, Dr. Ali has developed a strong foundation in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries and sports injuries using Acupuncture.
Acupuncture treatments consists of inserting acupuncture needles at specific points along the body, which can be found anatomically and through acupuncture diagnostics.
Acupuncture needles, when inserted into the skin, may provoke a “pinch” sensation. However, some patients may not feel any sensation at all when the needles are inserted.
Once the needles have been inserted, the patient may feel a numbing, heavy or warm sensation in the region or may feel nothing at all. A typical acupuncture session may last anywhere from 15-30 minutes.
Professional Care Rehabilitation Centre uses Clean Needle Technique and pre-sterilized, single use, disposable acupuncture needles in our practice. The needles are disposed immediately after a treatment in a safe manner.
